The holy grail for financial independence!

You may or may not know what residual income is, but for those of you who don't, ill try and explain how this marvellous way of earning an income works.

What Is Residual Income?
Residual income is a way if generating an income which you keep receiving week after week after you have put in the initial work. It may sound ridiculous but it is a real way of earning a second income alongside your existing earnings or can even become your main income. To help make things a little clearer here are a few examples of residual income.

Take for example you are an author and you spend 6 month writing a really good book. Once your book hits the shelves you get paid every time someone buys it long after you have put the initial effort into writing it.

Or you are an affiliate for a company selling a particular type of product, you tell people about this product and every time they buy a product through you (you act as the middle person), you get commission from the sale!

One great idea I heard of was advertising to new home owners. You contact all of the local businesses and services in your area and offer to give them free advertising. But for every time someone uses their service who you introduced you earn a small percentage of the sale. For example you post a info pack on local businesses to every house which has a sold sign outside, (indicating new home owners!) and they need to use the services of the aerial fitters, roof repair, sky TV installation. So they use the contacts in the information pack you posted and quote your reference name/number when ordering, this enables the company to pay you a small commission! And this would happen every time someone uses a business and quotes your reference number! Potentially every "sold sign" you see could be worth £25+ to you in commission!

Can I get rich Quick?
Generally speaking, if you develop your own stream of residual income you probably wont be a millionaire this time next month! (but if you are, congratulations you've cracked it!). Most residual incomes start off small, but its the cumulative effect which makes them a powerful growing source of income. Take for example you decide to sell people a service or a subscription, each month they pay their subscription you will earn a small percentage of commission. Then you introduce more people and you earn a small commission on their subscription as well as the existing subscriptions!

That's how many insurance brokers work, each time you buy/renew your insurance premium a percentage of what you pay goes to them, and people are renewing their insurance yearly. So if you had 100 people buying insurance through you spread across a year, in theory you would be earning commission on average every 3 to 4 days. And that would happen all the time AFTER you have put the initial work in.
That means, along as people keep renewing their insurance through you, you don't need to do anything else, just sit back and the money could trickle in. But even better than that, you could use your time productively and sell insurance to another 100 people, so that would mean you would have 200 people renewing their insurance through you every year. And you could carry on keep selling insurance, or you could do nothing if you were happy with the amount you were making!

This is just one example, but its the same pattern with all residual incomes, they may first appear small, but because you keep adding to it, it will grow! You don't need to work your fingers to the bone either, a little time set aside each day will suffice. It soon adds up!

YES, anyone can create their own residual income, anyone at all. Each person is very good at doing something, you may be creative, a good seller, a excellent service provider, or possess a wealth of information which people could pay you for. You need to find what suits you best, but the important thing is preparing first, if you don't spend a little time creating the foundations your business will eventually collapse. Some ways are simple, some are quite complex, this is another factor in deciding what you want to do, the more complex schemes require longer preparation but the simpler ones usually require less maintenance. With a little time each day you will be able to create your own residual income, you may just want to do the same as me and start an e-lottery business, or you may find an opportunity which better suits you, So again, yes ANYONE can create a residual income for themselves!
